Print Distributor 6 is here, this is our first major update to Print Distributor for some time and includes some interesting new features including:
Multi-threaded queues, Print Distributor will no longer block printing on other printers while it processes a very large document.
A new template language allows you to filter variables, for instance ? SerialNumber | pad 6 ? will produce the serial numbers 000001, 000002 and so on.
Send Mail action now supports custom ports.
The Script action now supports JScript (Microsofts version of JavaScript).
New ?LP?, ? LastPrinter ? variable expands to the last printer used by the load balancing action.
New LogMessage action lets you add your own messages to the log.
There are also various bug fixes and performance improvements. In particular the queue folder no longer exists, this removes a number of potential issues.
Print Distributor 6.0 supports Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and Windows Server 2008 and 2012 R1 and R2. It is compatible with both 32 and 64 bit environments. Windows XP and 2003 support have now been dropped.
The installer will directly upgrade versions 4.0 and later, if you want to upgrade a version 3.xx installation you should install version 5.4 first then install 6.0.
Customers who purchased Print Distributor 5 on or after 15th April 2015 get an automatic upgrade to version 6.0, your existing license code will work with the new release.
